Akmal will participate in the session titled: “The SAFETY Act – Instilling Confidence, Driving Value and Mitigating Risk”

This session will examine the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s SAFETY Act (Support Antiterrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002) – a vital but often under-leveraged program that offers substantial liability protections for organizations deploying qualified antiterrorism technologies.
Akmal will share his unique perspective as the former Deputy Director of the SAFETY Act Office within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, as well as his current role as a leader in SAFETY Act consulting, supporting some of the most high-profile venues and organizations around the world. His insights will address how the SAFETY Act can serve as a strategic risk management tool that enhances operational confidence, supports technology adoption, and aligns with broader organizational resilience goals.
