Walter P. Moore awarded SAFETY Act Designation by DHS for its Secure Design and Engineering Services
April 29, 2025: Walter P. Moore Receives SAFETY Act Designation
Aluma would like to congratulate our client, Walter P. Moore (WPM), for successfully achieving SAFETY Act Designation for its Secure Design Services. Aluma is proud to have supported WPM in its pursuit of this prestigious designation from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
This SAFETY Act Designation represents one of the most expansive awards ever granted for engineering services. The WPM received SAFETY Act Designation for its a suite of structural engineering services focused on protecting the structural integrity of venues and people from terrorist attacks, such as vehicle ramming and explosive threats. These services provide critical value to venue operators who are building new facilities or undertaking major renovations.
The Designated Technology includes three (3) core offerings:
• Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessment (TVRA) Services
• Design Mitigation Services
• Construction Administration Services
WPM’s Secure Design Services include the selection of Design Basis Threats and the performance of both Blast Assessments and Vehicle Vector Analyses. These services follow rigorous methodologies for identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities to public assembly venues, including stadiums, arenas, convention centers, campuses, and other critical infrastructure. The engineering strategies implemented through this program are designed to prevent and mitigate the consequences of intentional attacks.
With this SAFETY Act Designation, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has formally recognized the importance and effectiveness of WPM’s Secure Design Services in advancing the safety and resilience of the built environment.
